Obituary for Dietrich Geramaine "Deet" Davis

Dietrich Geramaine Davis, affectionately known as “Deet” by his family and friends, was born on January 13, 1973 to Virginia Davis and Robert Anderson, Sr. in Nassawadox, Virginia.

Deet was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and graduated in 1991 from Chincoteague High School.

Deet was a lover of animals. At a very young age he had his own zoo, which consisted of snakes, rabbits, frogs, and birds. He especially loved his dogs and would occasionally take in a friend’s dog and care for it. He was often called Peter Pan, “the child that never grew up.” Deet was also a diehard Dolphin’s fan and loved to taunt his Facebook friends.

Deet also loved to plant his vegetable garden every year until he was injured in an accident. Every summer Deet couldn’t wait to get to the water to go clamming and crabbing. Even while in a wheelchair, he just rolled it on in the water!

His favorite saying was “Stop Skating, Clear the Floor!”

Deet loved family and friends. He especially loved his siblings, nieces, and nephews. It was nothing for him to give you a call at 1 or 2 in the morning just to say “I Love You.”

After Deet’s injury in 2012, he became closer to the Lord. He often praised and gave thanks for all He had done.

Left to cherish his memories are: his mother, Virginia Davis of Horntown, VA; his father, Robert Anderson Sr. (Linda) of Salisbury, MD; five sisters, Connie (Corry) Johnson of Pocomoke City, Md, Antonette Wright of Parksley, VA, Bridgette Anderson of Jacksonville, FL, Nichell Anderson of Atlanta, GA, and Kinisha Barnes of Carlyle, PA; three brothers, Rasheem Xamir of Grovetown, GA, Terry (Antoinette) Anderson of Jacksonville, FL, and David Anderson of Salisbury, MD; one step-sister, Sophia Oberton of Salisbury, MD; a faithful companion, Nancy Austin and her children, Lazida Austin and LaQuietta Sears; an adopted son, Jahmeer Austin; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Deet was proceeded in death by two brothers, George Carlton Davis, Jr. “Butch” and Marvin Byrd.
