Obituary for Lillie Godwin Turner

Print
Lillie Mae Godwin Turner was born to the late Abraham and Louise Godwin on June 17, 1946 in Horsey, Virginia. She was joined in holy matrimony to Raymond Turner on June 21, 1996 at the Accomack County Courthouse by Samuel H. Cooper, Jr. Lillie departed this life on February 5, 2019 at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Lillie gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church. She received her education in the public schools of Accomack County. Lillie held many jobs including: Holly Farms in Temperanceville, Virginia, Hudson Foods in Berlin, Maryland, and lastly as a van driver for a medical supply company.

Lillie loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered for calling and “fussing” people out and hanging up, then not answering when they called back. Lillie will be sadly missed by all, especially for her cooking skills and her special Saturday rides with her husband, listening to 91.3 radio station.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, and two sisters-in-law.

Lillie leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Raymond M. Turner, Jr. of Eden, MD; son, Elmer (Sheka) Corbin of VA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, whom she called her “Booters”; two brothers, Martin Godwin and Edward Godwin, both of Oak Hall, VA; four sisters, Venera Godwin of Romulus, NY, Larue Godwin, Karen Bowen, both of Oak Hall, VA, and Dordean Schoolfield of Pocomoke City, MD; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Turner; three stepchildren, Lisa (Keith) Elmore, Raymond (Monique) Turner, III, and Joseph (Sharonda) Turner; two sisters-in-law, Marie Brown and Arletta Fitchett; four brothers-in-law, James (Juanita) Turner, Gary McKinley, Tyrone McKinley, and Charles Long; godfather, Lawrence Corbin; godson, RahShan Williams; and a host of “kids,” nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
