“Jamaican Berry” or “Barry,” as he was affectionately known, was a friend to all, he knew no stranger. He would often share stories with his close friends about his upbringing in Jamaica. Many included stories about his days of mischief with the late Bob Marley.
Barry had a strong belief in God and is remembered for his favorite saying, “Take your time, heaven is full of days.” Deep in his heart, he knew that God would take care of him.
Barry was employed at Tom’s Cove in Chincoteague and he also worked for Ms. Shirley Justice in Horntown for many years. He loved to fish, work in his garden, and raise farm animals. When the weather was nice, you could find Barry sitting under the tree. He enjoyed riding out with several of his close friends, Clarence, Alonzo, Dewey, Jim, and Keith. Barry had a special bond with children and a special affinity with Sherice “Boobie” Matthews, who was like a granddaughter.
Barry leaves many fond friends that were like family to him to cherish his memory.
