Harriet Ann Scarborough Griffin was born November 19, 1923 to the late Julius Scarborough and Juliette Allen in Franktown, Virginia. She departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, July 5, 2019 in her home.

She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Atlantic, Virginia. Harriet served as an usher until her health began to fail. She loved gospel music and her favorite song was It’s Me Again Lord.
Harriet was united in holy matrimony to John Griffin in 1950, who predeceased her in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent, Orville, Alfred, and Dennis and two nieces, Betty and Louise.
She will always be remembered for her smile, sweet spirit, and that contagious laugh that touched all who knew and loved her.
Harriett leaves to cherish her fond memories: a son, Otha A. Godwin, Sr.; six grandchildren, Vicky Ward-Wharton (Antonio), Quina Godwin, Otha A. Godwin, Jr., Orintha Godwin, Otha A. Godwin, III, and Michael Smith; ten great-grandchildren; four great, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
