Sarah Elizabeth Harmon, beloved daughter of the late Issaic Wharton and Clienta Watson Wharton, was born on August 5, 1927. She departed this life on December 5, 2019 at her residence.

Sarah received her education in the Accomack County School system. She worked for many years in the domestic capacity. Sarah was married to the late Leon S. Harmon, Sr.
Sarah accepted Christ as her personal Savior under the leadership of Pastor Marlene Brown and became a member of St. Joseph Holiness Church in Atlantic for numerous years. Sarah loved worshiping and reading her Bible. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.
Sarah had a sweet and loving spirit that was shared with all. She loved everyone she came in contact with. Her warm smile, encouraging words, and famous chicken and dumplings will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three children, Queenie Morris, Darlene Davis, and Leon Harmon, Jr.; two grandchildren, John “John John” Harmon, Jr. and Lavern Harmon; five brothers, Issaic Wharton, Nathaniel Wharton, Luther Wharton, Thomas Wharton, and Daniel Wharton; two sisters, Alice Wharton Howard and Mattie Payton; two sons-in-law, Robert James and Noah Mills, Jr..
Sarah leaves to cherish precious memories: her six children, Teresa (Elijah) West, John E. (Pastor Valerie) Harmon, Joanne Blake, Jeannette (William) Gardner, Rosie Mills, and Gracie James; twenty grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty-five great, great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clinton Wharton and Jerome Wharton; one son-in-law, Oliver Morris, Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Rebecca Wise; three sisters-in-law, Jane Wharton, Dollie Wharton, and Juanita Wharton and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
