“Zai,” as he was affectionately known was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a graduate of Chincoteague High School. At an early age, he was christened at Refuge Temple in Stockton, Maryland. He was a very spiritual person. Isaiah rededicated his life to Christ last year at New Beginnings Outreach in Pocomoke, Maryland. His granny often called him her little prophet, because he seemed to know about things that he had never experienced.
Isaiah had an old soul and possessed a love of the simple things in life. He truly enjoyed nature-indulging fishing and crabbing whenever the weather permitted him to do so. Photography was a passion of Zai; he loved to capture nature in all her beauty. This was a young man who loved people in general, especially his siblings. He took great pride in aiding in their upbringing, this was a serious matter to him. He also provided assistance to the elderly, never hesitating to him them a “helping hand.” Zai was the epitome of a respectful young man whose presence on this earth will be forever cherished, but truly missed. Those of us who were ever in his presence are grateful to have walked with this angel on earth.
Isaiah was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Delois “Sis” Bailey and Oliver Townsend; niece, Zah’Koni Townsend; and cousin, Curtis Fosque, Jr.
Zai leaves to cherish his loving memory: his parents, Lanoun D. Payton and Teresa Townsend; grandparents, Francine Payton, Teresa Townsend, and Anthony Wright; great-grandparents, Bernidean Townsend and Sadie Wright; siblings, Teenaya Townsend, Kalik Townsend, Kareem Townsend, Zariea Townsend, Kanijah Townsend, Isaiah Lashun, Seven Johnson, and Ahmad Johnson; god-parents, Clarissa Woods and Nevon Robinson; god-siblings, Norissa Townsend and Roman Townsend; aunts and uncles, Jamera Fosque, Iris Handy, Destiny Evans, Katrina Payton, Dorothy Payton, Dewayne Miller, Ronnie Townsend, Anthony Wright, Brandon Evans, Derrick Wright, and Curtis Fosque; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
