Henry Thomas Dennis, son of the late Henry Dennis and Annie Northam, was born on September 5, 1943 in Hopeton, Virginia. He was raised by his aunt Grace Northam Finney, whom he called Mom. On Monday, January 13, 2020, at the home of his caregiver, Cindy Finney, God called him home.

“Hen Tom,” as he was lovingly called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. In 1970, he began working at Burton P. Short, where dedicated over forty years until his retirement. He later reentered the workforce at G & G Glover Farm and worked there until his health began to fail in December 2019.
Hen Tom married the love of his life in September 1969 and their union was blessed with four children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Dolly Ann West; son, Darryl West, Sr.; siblings, Margaret Gaye Northam, Irene Wise, Mary Bloxom, Henrietta Dennis, Alfred Dennis, and Gayle Dennis; and special aunt, Mary Ann Dennis Savage.
Remembering him with love today are his children, Jeffery (Barbara) Madre, Deborah (Bruce) Jones, Terry Duffy, and Dwayne (Shelia) West; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great, great-grandchild; fifteen sisters, Sara (Cornelius) Corbin, Doris Edwards, Joanne (Reggie) Riddick, Lula Mae (David) Satchell, Gloria Pettit, Celestine (Willie) Hargis, Terry (Ernest) Dickerson, Patricia Bibbins, Michelle (Keith) Wharton, Irene (Roy) Douglas, Hallie (Dalton) Christopher, Phyllis Garvin, Charlene Rowley, Paulette Dennis, and Althea Adams; six brothers, Alfred Northam, Robert Northam, David (Gwendolyn) Northam, Ernest Northam, Henry Lee Dennis, and Walter Dennis; special friends, Cindy Finney, Teresa West-Kellam, Lisa Montanez, and Edward Pettit; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
