Obituary

Gloria Ann Doughty departed this life on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at the age of fifty-four. She was the beloved daughter of Leroy Harmon, Jr. and Margaret Harmon, born on January 19, 1966.

“Lady G,” as she was affectionately known, enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her father as a youth. She was a hard-working young woman; gaining employment at the clam house early on.

At the age of eighteen, she was blessed with her first child, Travis, whom she raised to be a hardworking and respectable young man. At twenty-two, she was blessed with a daughter, Keisha, whom she raised to be a strong young lady.

Gloria was employed at Perdue Farms in Accomac for over twenty years. She also worked at Royal Farms in Parksley for several years. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed dining out at her favorite restaurant, Red Lobster and spending time with her family. She loved her family, especially her grandkids, whom she spoiled. Gloria also loved to play the lottery, she had a thing for numbers.

Gloria leaves to mourn her passing: her son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Amanda Harmon of Immokalee, FL; daughter, LaKeisha Doughty of Onley, VA; six grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Upshur of Weirwood, VA; brother, Henry Harmon of Exmore, VA; five aunts; three uncles; niece, Angela Upshur of Onancock, VA; nephew, Anthony Upshur of Nassawadox, VA; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Service Details

In the light of the evolving situation with COVID-19 virus, we are making adjustments to adapt to the current health emergency. In order to reduce the spread of the virus in our community, we are limiting the public’s access to our facility. We will continue to serve our families with the utmost dignity, as well as maintain the safety guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). We have received notification from the Virginia Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers that funeral homes are included in the Governors Executive Order Fifty-Three (2020), which imposes the following restriction: Effective 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2020 until 11:59 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2020, all public and private in person gatherings of 10 or more individuals are prohibited. In accordance with the Governor's Executive Order Fifty-Three, Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Inc. will comply and hold all services private until April 23, 2020. We will not have any public viewings. In an effort to accommodate family and friends, we are posting photos and the funeral/graveside service video of your loved ones on their respective Book of Memory pages on our website, www.cooperandhumbles.com. This will allow you to have a lasting memory picture and attend the service virtually. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time and as soon as this matter is resolved, we will resume our normal practices.
