Ronda Napolean Bailey, also known as “Matlock,” was born in Onancock, Virginia on March 20, 1952 to the late Edward Lee Bailey and Margaret Stevens. He departed this life on April 2, 2020 at his residence in Onancock, Virginia.

Ronda was educated in the public schools of Accomack County, where he graduated from Onancock High School. He served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974. After his honorable discharge, he entered the workforce in the carpentry industry.
On August 30, 1975, he married Evangeline “Penny” Needam and that union was blessed with one son. Ronda was a free spirit. He loved watching sports and he especially loved the Washington Redskins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Henry Blake.
Ronda is survived by his children, Ronda Bailey, Jr. of Springfield, VA and Shannon Northam of Onancock, VA; five grandchildren, Nyasani Oates of Washington, DC, Devin Bailey of Woodbridge, VA, Kathia Bailey of Leon, Nicaragua, Brianna Bailey of Springfield, VA, and Gabriel Northam of Onancock, VA; one great-grandson, Kamari Oates of Hyattsville, MD; four siblings, Henry Bailey of Baltimore, MD, Welton (Mable) Bailey of Melfa, VA Vandelia Blake of Onancock, VA, and Shelia Bailey of Onancock, VA; three nieces, Tanya (Tony) Smith of Daugherty, VA, Helena Blake of Onancock, VA, and Erika Bailey of Baltimore, MD; special friend, Valda Smith; and a host of other friends and relatives.
