Obituary

Lennie Frances Press Dickerson, beloved daughter of the late Howard and Myrtle Northam Press, was born on June 9, 1937. She departed this life on April 14, 2020 at her residence in New Church, Virginia.

Lennie was educated in the Accomack County Public School system. At an early age, she confessed her love for Christ and joined St. Joseph Holiness Church in Atlantic, Virginia. In her lifetime, she was employed at different poultry companies, including Golden Pride and Tyson Foods from where she retired.

Lennie was united in holy matrimony to the late Walter G. Dickerson, Sr. Their union was blessed with six children, Walter, Jr., Eric, Derrick, Leslie, Lorrie, and Delbert. Lennie was committed to her family, especially to her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was kind to everyone that she came in contact with. Lennie always offered words of wisdom and encouragement and kept a positive outlook on life. She was kind-hearted, a great listener, and loved everyone. These qualities will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter G. Dickerson, Sr.; and three children, Eric Dickerson, Derrick Dickerson, and Leslie Dickerson.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Lorrie Dickerson, Delbert Dickerson, both of New Church, VA, and Walter (Angela) Dickerson, Jr. of Temperanceville, VA; six grandchildren, Kimeko Dickerson, Latasha Dickerson, Lawrence Rue, Jermaine Schoolfield, Aaron Gilliard, and Rainiaih Brown; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Andrew Press and Calvin Press; two sisters, Florence Pitts and Mary Anne (Robert) Fisher; two sisters-in-law, Beluah Wallop and Doris Wallop; one brother-in-law, Ray (Ester) Dickerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

    Notes
In the light of the evolving situation with COVID-19 virus, we are making adjustments to adapt to the current health emergency. In order to reduce the spread of the virus in our community, we are limiting the public’s access to our facility. We will continue to serve our families with the utmost dignity, as well as maintain the safety guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). We have received notification from the Virginia Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers that funeral homes are included in the Governors Executive Order Fifty-Three (2020), which imposes the following restriction: Effective 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2020 until 11:59 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2020, all public and private in person gatherings of 10 or more individuals are prohibited. In accordance with the Governor's Executive Order Fifty-Three, Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Inc. will comply and hold all services private until further notice. We will not have any public viewings. In an effort to accommodate family and friends, we are posting photos and the funeral/graveside service video of your loved ones on their respective Book of Memory pages on our website, www.cooperandhumbles.com. This will allow you to have a lasting memory picture and attend the service virtually. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time and as soon as this matter is resolved, we will resume our normal practices.
