Obituary

Deacon Charles Lee Teague departed this life on April 20, 2020 at his residence in Salisbury, Maryland. He was born on August 27, 1960 in Keller, Virginia to the late Norman and Mary Teague.

Charles, affectionately known as “Poon,” was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a 1978 graduate of Central High School. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country.

Charles was truly a people-person and he loved his family. He was fun-loving, kind-hearted, and always kept you in stitches. He enjoyed communicating with his family and friends on his cell phone.

Charles worked in several jobs throughout his life, including Tyson Foods, Perdue Farms, and most recently, Bel-Arc in Pocomoke, Maryland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Herman, William, Curtis, Norman, Jr., Calvin, and James and his wife, Nina Faye.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, Sharon Banks; one granddaughter, J’Nysia Banks; one sister, Mary (James) Mills of Norfolk, VA; two brothers, Henry Teague of Atlanta, GA and William (Phyllis) Wessells of Virginia Beach, VA; four nieces, Gwendolyn (Frank) Brooks, Jamilah Mills-Jefferson, both of Norfolk, VA, Carolyn Bunting of Richmond, VA, and Trinia Wessells of Virginia Beach, VA; five nephews, Sammie (Joyce) Harmon of Painter, VA, Gregory (Yvette) Johnson of NJ, Kevin (Tasha) Mills, Christopher Mills, both of Norfolk, VA, Albert (Tomeka) Bunting of NC; one aunt, Norma White of Brooklyn, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Charles, we love you and will miss your phone call.

    Notes
In the light of the evolving situation with COVID-19 virus, we are making adjustments to adapt to the current health emergency. In order to reduce the spread of the virus in our community, we are limiting the public’s access to our facility. We will continue to serve our families with the utmost dignity, as well as maintain the safety guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Inc. will comply and hold all services private until further notice. We will not have any public viewings in our facility. In an effort to accommodate family and friends, we are posting photos and the funeral/graveside service video of your loved ones on their respective Book of Memory pages on our website, www.cooperandhumbles.com. This will allow you to have a lasting memory picture and attend the service virtually. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time and as soon as this matter is resolved, we will resume our normal practices.

We may not have seen each often, but we were never apart. Even now our spirits rejoice together. You are gone from my sight, but never from my heart. Love you Poon and always will. Until we meet again. Keep dancing in the sky.
