Bobby Jermaine Bailey, beloved son of Robert Bailey, Sr. and Celestine C. Beckett, was born on April 7, 1983 in Nassawadox, Virginia. He departed this life on April 26, 2020 at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.

Bobby was known by many names; “Lil’ Bobby,” “Bobby Boo,” to his siblings he was “Popa Doc,” “Drawls,” “Jesus,” “Baby Brother,” and to his loving parents he was “Our Son.” He was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and was a graduate of Nandua High School. Bobby was employed at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital until his health began to fail.

Bobby attended St. Luke A. M. E. Church in Daugherty, Virginia. He assisted in several ministries and his presence will surely be missed.

Bobby was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, and bled green. He had an undying love for his family and friends. He had a special bond with his uncles, George and Charles, aunts, Barbara and Survilla, and his cousin, Millie Bagwell; he loved to get her recipes. He took being an uncle seriously and his love for his nieces and nephews was unwavering. Bobby enjoyed spending quality time with his dad, washing their cars and riding around. He enjoyed traveling with family, especially trips to the Outer Banks and family reunions.

Bobby loved to eat and cook and enjoyed trying new dishes to share with his family. He would spend countless hours playing his Xbox and entertaining people on Facebook. He kept folks in stitches from laughing, shaking, and scratching their heads from what he posted.

He lived his life to the fullest and with no regrets. He cared for others in life and continued to do it in death, through organ donation.

Bobby leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Celestine (Andrew) Beckett; father, Robert (Brenda) Bailey, Sr.; siblings, Mario (Cheneka) Watson, Robert Bailey, Jr., Rashaw Strand, Michelle Bailey, and Tayannia Ames; seven uncles, James Chandler, George (Juanita) Chandler, Nelson (Dorin) Chandler, Charles (Margaret) Chandler, Roger (Dorothy) Bailey, Donald (Jeanette) Bailey, and Chester Fulton; three aunts, Barbara Chandler, Survilla (Frederick) Mitchell, and Chestina Fulton; cousins who were like brothers, Joaquin Chandler, Kristopher Bagwell, Phillip Bagwell, and Theutis Wharton; good friend, Christopher Elder, who was also like a brother; loving godson, Dorien Smith; special friend, Kamesha Watson; step-siblings, Antwine, Vonda, Shanta, and Robert; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In the light of the evolving situation with COVID-19 virus, we are making adjustments to adapt to the current health emergency. In order to reduce the spread of the virus in our community, we are limiting the public’s access to our facility. We will continue to serve our families with the utmost dignity, as well as maintain the safety guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). We have received notification from the Virginia Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers that funeral homes are included in the Governors Executive Order Fifty-Three (2020), which imposes the following restriction: Effective 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2020 until 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2020, all public and private in person gatherings of 10 or more individuals are prohibited. In accordance with the Governor's Executive Order Fifty-Three, Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Inc. will comply and hold all services private until further notice. We will not have any public viewings. In an effort to accommodate family and friends, we are posting photos and the funeral/graveside service video of your loved ones on their respective Book of Memory pages on our website, This will allow you to have a lasting memory picture and attend the service virtually. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time and as soon as this matter is resolved, we will resume our normal practices.

Bobby, God with His “MASTERMIND” saw and planned for this day to come long ago. He was not surprised, but we were. So, in our humanity, we are having a struggle understanding why you left us so - so soon. But if we take a note Spiritually, God’s point of view, Ephesians 2:10 says: “For we are all HIS {God’s} workmanship [God created us} - God created us in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” So with this in mind, I believe that before you agreed to come to this earth as the son of Bobby Bailey and Celestine Chandler Beckett, you agreed with God to fulfill your purpose; you Bobby, did what God ask you to do - you fulfilled your earthly purpose and on the afternoon of April 26, 2020, you got a glimpse of heaven and decided to stay there with your heavenly Father. I am told that once you are in the presence of God, you don’t want to come back to this earth!!

So, Bobby, we just want to let you know a few things:
We love you dearly, and we will miss you immensely!
You were a Gentle Giant, WITH A HUMBLE AND KIND SPIRIT!
You had the heart of gold, a heart soooo filled with love, and you shared that love with everyone you met!
Always looking serious, a bit quiet, but very observant!
You made a powerful impact on and in the LIVES OF ALL OF US!
BUT you had a fun & mischievous (Playful) side too – just remembering make me smile!
You know some of that stuff you posted on Face Book – well I had to snooze you twice for 30 days! I also, had to HIDE your postings sooooo many times!! But you never got angry… always a smile.
You remember that time I got rid of one of your CDs (I know you do) Not a mumbling word – just an inquisitive look…
You just knew you were a great chef – remember the oysters – they were good?
You just loved to joke around – making people laugh & happy…
Bobby, there was a sensitive - fatherly side to you as well. Do you remember when PJ’s (Phillip) son - Dor–graduated from elementary school & PJ had to work? You were staying with PJ at the time – you were more than happy to step in. You were excited about it. When you left to go to the graduation with Dor’s mom, you first had to stop by a store to get a card & a gift card to put in the card, you took your time to select the card that you felt was the perfect one & even bought balloons! You, Bobby, made sure you sat close to the front; you didn’t want to miss seeing him and you wanted Dor to feel special & special he felt!! After PJ got off work, you took PJ, Dorien, and Dorien’s sister to Golden Coral to celebrate!! Bobby, that’s the type of person you were; that’s the type of heart you had; that’s how you will be remembered! It ain’t gonna be the same around here without you. I love you Bobby – PJ….
WOW & WOW Bobby, yes at 37 years of age you leave a great LEGACY {Anything handed down or making a contribution to a generation}. You have handed out wisdom and great advice. You’ve taught us all to:
Love unconditionally! 2. Honor your parents!
3. Be respectful; build relationships! 4. Forgive and be kind!
5. Not to live in or with anger! 6. Live life without regrets!!

Lastly Bobby Jermaine Bailey, you have lived up to your name, you have demonstrated love; you have been a great son, and a loving brother; you have been a bright, shining star, reflecting great light in a dark world; you have achieved notable character – known by many people on the Shore, having obtained a good reputation; you have been a real brother to many!
Your Cousin/Aunt
DeBora Drummond
