Mary Doretha Finney Harmon, beloved daughter of the late George Finney and Mary Magdeline Bailey Finney, was born on August 21, 1951 in Accomack County, Virginia. She departed this life on September 28, 2020 at her daughter’s residence.

Mary, affectionately known as “Mom,” “Grandma,” or “Aunt Doe,” was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. Mary was employed at Kluis’s Nursey, Redwood Gables Restaurant, and the Country Club throughout her life. She worked to provide for her family until her health prevented her from doing so.
Mary joined the congregation at Gaskins Chapel AME Church in Savageville, Virginia.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Clarence Harmon, Sr.
In her leisure, Mary enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, and eating tuna fish.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earnest Finney; sister, Catherine Ames; son-in-law, Matthew Johnson; and good friend, Wallane Johnson.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Shelia Johnson of Accomac, VA, Clarence (Tara) Harmon, Jr. of Melfa, VA, Mary (Shawn) Scarborough of Boston, VA, Shawn (Shannon) Harmon of Savageville, VA, Schanell (Forlando) Harmon of Melfa, VA, and Marcus (Keyanna) Harmon of Virginia Baech, VA; twenty-four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her companion, Elliot King; special friends, Barbara Mills and Sarah Ayres; adopted children, Keron Matthews and Troy Savage; special niece, Catherine Bailey; six sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
